What I was hoping for here was your disproof of my proof of why your original
assertion (or quoting someone else's assertion) is wrong. Are you going to
allow my disappointment to continue?

Thanks for that correction Paul - I just knew you must have been wrong :-)

In my haste I gave the Moon's sidereal period as " ... more precisely 27.321661
days ". This is wrong -- it is 27.321662 days. Just type that number into
Google and you'll get a plethora of responses!

Doesn't change anything though.

The Moon orbits the Earth once in 27.322 days (note the error in your source)
approx -- more precisely 27.321661 days
(http://www.synapses.co.uk/astro/moon2.html). As such, it traverses 360 deg /
27.321661 d = 13.17636 deg per day or 9.15025 * 10^-3 deg per minute.

The Sun is 150 * 10^6 km distant and has a diameter of 1.3927 * 10^6 km thus it
subtends an angle of atan(1.3927 * 10^6 / 150 * 10^6) = 531.957 * 10^-3 deg or
a little over half a degree. This means that a point on the Moon's limb will
take about 58 minutes from first point of contact to last point of contact as
it crosses the Sun's disk during a solar eclipse -- 531.957 * 10^-3 / 9.15025 *
10^-3 = 58.1359 min. The time of totality is short, never more than about seven
minutes (from memory). The Moon's diameter is 3476 km and its distance is
384400 km. I'll let you do the calculations to verify the time of totality.

The Moon's orbit is inclined to Earth's orbit by 5.1454 deg
(http://www.krysstal.com/solarsys_moon.html). This is why eclipses are rare in
the heliocentric model. It's so easy to check this, I do wonder at how so many
geocentrists keep making this appallingly glaring error. Your quote is almost
word for word what I remember from another site which sadly I cannot recall.
http://www.reformation.org/stationary-earth.html says it too -- "In the
heliocentric system it is IMPOSSIBLE to have phases of the moon without having
a major solar and lunar eclipse at least twice every month." I tried to explain
this to him but he won't talk to you if you don't agree with him. Check in
particular his illustration of the Moon's umbra. I think most geocentrist sites
quote each other as authorities.

This is one for Regner.
Below is a copy from the website mentioned below. What do you say Regner?

Jack

Solar Eclipses

Since the earth does not rotate, then the moon cannot be orbiting the earth
once every 27.332 days. It is orbiting
the earth clockwise once every 24 hours and 50 minutes. According to the
heliocentric model, there would have
to be a solar eclipse every time there is a new moon! Additionally, if the
moon was moving as slowly as they say
it is, when it blocks the sun during a solar eclipse, the sun should stay
blocked for hours! Likewise, when a lunar
eclipse occurs, because the earth is four times the size of the moon, the earth
should block the moon from being
lit for at least a couple of days! And this time the rotating earth can't save
them, because it has no bearing on
the relative position of the sun and moon!

pulled off against mankind, won't be met with much respect. In fact, prepare to
be considered a lunatic. All I can say is, who cares? The truth is the truth,
and the reality is that we've all bit the big one on this. God told us in the
Revelation that an angel would appear and make a declaration to all mankind
that they should worship the One who made the Heavens and the Earth. (
Revelation 14:7 ) He appears right before the angel that announces the fall of
Babylon the Great. It's right about the time that Babylon goes down that God
will let mankind know what a rotating Earth is like when he rocks the world to
its foundations. It would all go down together: Everything from the
moon-landing hoax to the Cold War Hoax to the Holocaust to create Israel hoax,
the whole Illuminati/Jesuit flim-flam of mankind. On that day all those who are
knowing their God will be rewarded richly
for their faithfulness and for waiting on Him." more HERE.
