Could be, the paper from the research folks may be several years old now but they said that "Cave Spring was owned by the L-A-D Foundation, a private conservation group. Devils Well was sold to the National Park Service in 1974. " past that, I haven't a clue but it's all interesting to me. Glenn, I think Devils Well is actually owed by Leo Drey as part of the Pioneer Forest (www.pioneerforest.com). I believe the Park Service has an easement on the land. But I could be mistaken. I know for sure he owns Cave Springs and the NPS has an easement allowing public use. He owns a lot of the land in that area. About 500 feet downstream from Cave Springs is another cave with a small entrance about half way up the bluff. I think it is now gated. But many years ago (about 25), you could go in it. But you had to be careful. The cave is just big enough to crawl back into. About 50 feet back into the cave there is a big hole in the floor. About 100 feet below this hole is an underground lake. It, Cave Springs, and the Devil's Well are all connected. We figured there would be lots of neat things in the lake as many critters likely crawled in and did not see the hole in the floor and took a big fall. So we came with inflatable rafts and a rope ladder. We climbed down and got into the lake in our rafts. There was not anything down there. It was just a lake with steep mud slopes along the edge. But it was a fun adventure. > -----Original Message----- > From: geocaching-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:geocaching-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Glenn > Sent: Friday, August 16, 2002 9:00 PM > To: SLAGA > Subject: [GeoStL] Incomming..... > > > http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=32849 > > glenn > > > ****************************************************************** > *********** > Our NEW WebPage!
