I haven't actually hunted any of the letterboxes, but I want to. I think it is a great combo, letterboxing and geocaching. And I hope this issue doesn't turn into a letterbox/geocache war. I think they can coexist. I also don't think that we want to become a militant caching association that will make things uncomfortable for anyone who doesn't play our way. I think our purpose is to try to help each other maintain decent caches for others to find. That said though, it seems that the group in question is more interested in letterboxing than the image of geocaching. And from this particular cache webpage look like they are drawing the lines between the sports. They don't want to be governed by geocaching rules, but by letterboxing rules. Anyway, I only know about letterboxing from what I have learned via geocaching, so don't know how they normally maintain things. It seems like both sports would want to have the same goal of well maintained, nice things to find. Either way, when you put something on the geocaching webpage, I think you are in a sense signing a contract that you will maintain it to geocaching.com standards. I know MANY people do not. I hope they stay with geocaching.com, because I would to hunt some. But I would also like to take my time to hunt something that will be worth my time. It's a shame they seem to think temporarily archiving caches that they can't get to and fix is a negative thing.
