The Main Event:
CCBC Choices
Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC) librarians Merri Lindgren and Megan
Schliesman will talk about Great New Books for Children, and Great New Books
for Teens, highlighting selected books from CCBC Choices 2017. Books included
in CCBC Choices 2017 will be available for hands-on examination.
Lunchtime Session:
It's Tablet Time!
This will be an interactive session on using tablet technology for STEAM
learning, patron training, and information services.
Breakout Session:
The Ozobot!
The Ozobot is a powerful tiny robot that expands STEM and computer science
learning through a collection of game based activities and digital apps. Using
simple color-based programming, the Ozobot can be used with paper and markers
or with a digital app. This inexpensive robot is a great tool for introducing
young children to robotics but can also be used in more complicated
applications with teens. This session will be hands-on as participants will be
given the chance to play and learn.
This workshop is co-sponsored by the Manitowoc-Calumet Library System, Nicolet
Federated Library System, Outagamie Waupaca Library System, and Winnefox
Library System.
Continuing education contact hours: 5
A single copy of CCBC Choices 2017 will be sent to each public library in
Wisconsin in mid to late March, and we expect to have additional copies on hand
for workshop attendees.
