I'm not able to make Friends meeting this Thursday as I'm in Washington DC for a 10 day fast and series of vigils to close Guantanamo and end indefinite detention but had a few questions/concerns to discuss. It seems the water is supposed to start flowing in Nuevo & La Union any moment now which is good news after so long a wait and so much planning. (Awaiting Mike's photos) But what will happen with drinking water? Will water continue to be trucked in in smaller quantities and who will pay? Is money lined up? Or are arsenic filters soon to arrive? And is there any progress on long term pipeline from up on the mountain and the funding for that? We hope all of you had a good holiday with family, friends, got a good rest, etc. Now it's back to our work hopefully for many of you. We will be having our regular monthly meeting this Thursday evening, Jan. 5, 7:30 p.m. in room H 109 at Northport HS. In addition to our regular topics, like finances, web site, Nicaragua (Mike is in Nica now, and said water is/may be flowing in Nuevo Amanecer by now...waiting for word), following up on our recent activities, etc., we will be planning our agenda for the upcoming year, discussing a possible Nica trip this late winter/early spring, providing an update (not too successful...yet) on our holiday postcard fund raiser, and whatever topics you forward to us pronto. If you want something discussed, please let us know. Folks, it's a New Year, or a New Dawn, or a Nuevo Amanecer. Please come and help us improve our organization and our activities. Be well. See you there Thurs. night. Pete and Kate *** You can unsubscribe from this list by sending an email to fsf60k-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the subject field.
