I am passing this on to all NYS residents on my mailing lists. If you agree, please send it to all on yours. Janet _____ From: Sheila Croke [mailto:scroke@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, February 22, 2008 8:03 PM To: 1 Subject: Fw: Trump/Jones Beach Fowarded info Friends, An important hearing has been scheduled to deal with the Trump restaurant/catering hall/nightclub/souvenir shop, etc. on Jones Beach. The hearing is scheduled for March 4, 2008, 11:00 AM at the Cradle of Aviation Museum, Charles Lindbergh Blvd. Garden City, NY 11530. To get to the Museum take Meadowbrook Parkway to exit M4, follow signs to Museum Row which will put you on Charles Lindbergh Blvd. Stay on Charles Lindbergh Blvd. to the second traffic light and turn right into the parking lot. It is important that as many people as possible come out and voice their opposition to "Trump on the Ocean." We must fill up the room, and let our state government know that we do not need such a huge anti-environmental development on our premier public beach. Jones Beach is the "people's beach," not land to be exploited by Trump and Co. The Trump/Carl restaurant complex is slated to be four times the size of the original restaurant built in Robert Moses' time, the parking lot for the new facility will be expanded to an acre in size, located on the land traditionally devoted to recreation. More concrete, less nature. The catering facility will be charging at least $300/plate. This Trump extravaganza is not designed for the average Long Islander or New Yorker. Why can't the State get the simple restaurant it originally requested, something in conformity with Robert Moses' original vision of our beautiful state beach? Prevent Donald Trump from "paving paradise" for his "Trump on the Ocean." Come to the meeting. Bring your friends, your children (Jones Beach is a legacy for them and future generations!)--it is so important to let big developers know we are willing to fight to preserve our beautiful beach! If you have any questions, give me a call 516-432-8156. If you need transportation to the meeting at the Museum call Pat Friedman at 516-582-5838. All the best!
