Generally speaking, faculty and staff who are not working an event are
charged at cost as well as their spouses. Staff this is working the event
should go for free and if their spouses do decide to come should be charged
cost. However, there are instances where you have staff and faculty who can
not afford to pay even cost and the right thing to do would be to comp
them. Having your staff and faculty at the event is extremely important to
show your alumni and friends that attend that you value your employees and
secondly that they also have participated. Finally, you'll probably need
them so that you'll be able to fill the room.
