True, I can see that. But....

My beef is that this has not clearly commnicated to the customers other 
than those who, like Ed Zychowski, called up the GPS and asked pointed 
questions.

When the instructions on the Web site still clearly stress that 
customers should not download patches from no other site other than the 
Invensys Web site, who can divine a change of procedures?

Again, a simple alert on the Web site stating what you stated here 
would have alleviated a lot of confusion.

If after you applied the patch and you could smell smoke, then you 
shouldn't go for it?

Thanks, Corey, for pointing that out. I was going to get to that 
eventually but you beat me to it. Say anything you like about Sun, but 
in the 15 or so years Solaris has been in use, I've never felt that 
they dictate what I have to do with my Sun boxes. But I won't go down 
that well-worn Solaris-is-superior-to-Windows path.
