Actually, that's good direction. Thanks. I took them to a test bed with =
just a CP10. I built an ECB to light up the FBMs. As soon as I plugged =
the FBMs into the system, it started EPROM updates. I took them to the =
system and they work fine with the CP30. I don't understand why the CP30 =
didn't hit them, but the CP10 did. CP10 and CP30 both V6.5.3 software, =
same IOM. Who can figure? As long as it works.

Ken,
=20
Sorry to be short on specifics here, but I don not recall the precise =
procedure.
=20
My recollection is that you need a test bed that will boot the FBM10 and =
then have the old iom file for the FBM10 on the host of the test bed CP. =
An eeprom "update" in SMDH of the FBM10 will now actually be an eeprom =
down grade and when the eeprom success message is received, you can now =
take the FBM to your live system and it will boot.

So the question remains, how to use a spare FBM10 in another part of the =
=3D plant when it won't communicate because it had been PROMed?

Current system version is 6.5.3 - should be the latest images.

Ken,
=3D20
You would have to look at release notes for your current rev of the CP's =
=3D to be sure, but I think you are correct. Certain new eeprom on FBM's =
=3D will not work on CP's with older eeprom levels.

Objet : [foxboro] FBM10 Communication Issue

I have a bunch of FBM10s that show communication failure on both A and B =
=3D fieldbus. I am assured that these were working. However, in this =
system =3D using a CP30, they fail. I do have one FBM from a different =
area that =3D works, so I know the system is okay. Is it possible that =
these failing =3D FBMs have a later EEPROM update that would make =
fieldbus communications =3D fail on earlier systems?
