Pedro,
The upper and lower fieldbus cables that you mention are also
standard CAT 5 cables but the Male RJ-45 connectors are keyed with a plastic
molded part that makes it impossible to plug the upper fieldbus extension
cable into the lower receptacle and vice versa. Other than that the two
cables are identical. We have used standard CAT 5 cables to extend the
Foxboro fieldbus from one enclosure to another with no problems, but there
are distance, total # of extensions, and total loss specifications specified
by Foxboro. The fieldbus should also be terminated with the RJ-45 resistor
plugs from Foxboro.
