I'm not sure that having the DM default to the second is impossible. As far as 
I remember this can be done. Your best bet is to play with the "Display and 
Alarm Manager configuration tool" which can turn out to be an adventure all 
by itself.
This tool will create a nicely formatted dmcfg file stripped from all comments 
but much faster to read.

The real problem is having dedicated DM's that actually run on the Sun 
box ,think VNC, Sun UltraThin Client (VERY COOL b.t.w) which all incorporate 
a second local running server which has to started by setting the DISPLAY 
variable to "AW5101:1.0" for example, in contrast to XTERM1:0.0, but now I 
have problably really confused everything more than I should have.

I think I will stop here, now it is too late....
