Andreas,

I did a quick (minimal) bit of checking on the internet, and it 
"appears" the problem is the pipe.  MKS must spawn a new process when 
it sees a pipe, and that is causing the problem.  If you can re-write 
the script without the pipes (which might be difficult) it should 
work.  Here's a link about a similar problem.
