I'd put AIM*OPC DA Server on the same generic PC running WW's software. That box would also have WW's FactorySuite Gateway to link to AIM*OPC DA Server. FSG can be an OPC DA client (among other things). This arrangement eliminates the issues of DCOM and it works with both Solaris and Windows based boxes on the I/A Series side. That's the simplest approach. The downside is that if you want to push lots of data into the I/A Series, you will be faced with the normal OM limitations with regard to getting data shoved down its throat. On the other hand, if the data rate is low - less than a dozen points per second, it will work well. The other alternatives are more complex and really depend on data flow direction. What are my options other than OPC; any available standard Gateways? If OPC, what would be the recommended make/model/version? Thanks. Joseph M.
