Re: [foxboro] I/A v8.0b upgrade to v8.4.3: Slow graphics response and CPU utilization goes to 100% for the duration of a screen print

Todd,

Some possible things to check but I do not have a definite answer.

The file /etc/printers contains the list of your printers. For screen print
you need a graphic printer to be selected in the screen print program. The
program takes the graphic printer closest to the top of the list in
/etc/printers. If the printer you desire to use is not at the top you can use
a flat text editor to move your printer line to the top line in the file. It
could be that t5he program is trying to print to a non-existing printer.

If you can get rid of the print screen function and all child processes of
print screen, what does the utilization go to? You would like to see it sit
4-10 % used with bursts to higher numbers for short periods and then back down
to low utilization.

Call a specific graphic three times. Does it call up faster on the third try?
If yes, then something has caused your graphics to un-optimize. They all need
to be re-optimized by being called three times.

If still slow, can you look at the processes and see what process is using the
most time. Is any process continually using more RAM ?

Terry
