We're using Modbus to communicate IA with a Wonderware SCADA system; = being IA a Modbus Master. It's not the best protocol for an app to app = connection, but it has been working quite fine, though.=20 I know that sometimes may be hard to implement, but i recommend to avoid = "in between" linking devices. Away that this is adding an extra failure = point to the link, you're adding extra work when changing the data exchange = tables for the applications.=20 Gonzalo Diaz Mantenimiento Planta LPG Servicios Buproneu S.A. It was discarded... I don't know =3D = why... *.- The first attempt was to use modbus with rs485 interfaces both =3D = sides, but the communication didn't work. *.- Then it was used modbus with rs232 interfaces and media converters = =3D to fiber optics (only three wires TX, RX, GRND), but the communication =3D = didn't work. At that moment it was suspected that there was a problem with flow =3D = control or something like that, but an "in deep" analysis shows us that =3D = neither of both DCS can work as "full slave". It was tried to use =3D Honeywell as = Master and Foxboro as Slave. the problem is that the =3D Honeywell DCS can't be configured as slave nor configure its retry time. =3D This last = condition "saturate" the Foxboro interface freezing the =3D communication (I suppose).=3D20 *.- Finally, an incredible solution... a micrologix 1500 in the middle, = =3D with modbus prosoft interface and RS232 to fiber converters What do you think about this? I am sure, there must be better ideas. -----Mensaje original----- De: foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]En nombre de Jaudon, Mike Enviado el: Lunes, 17 de Diciembre de 2007 15:25 Para: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Asunto: [foxboro] Foxboro DCS to other DCS communication I was wondering if anyone is communicating between two different DCS systems, such as Foxboro I/A Series and Delta V. =3D20 If so, 1) How are you communicating between the two systems? 2) Are you performing controls across the communication link or just = sending non-control data back and forth? =3D20 Michael L.
