Re: Does anyone know if these variables have been addressed over to the
HART interface or are these memory addresses only available to the
FoxCOM modules?

The CP can only access HART Universal and Common parameters. A common
configuration has the user alarm the MSI bit in the HART status word.
This bit typically gives early warning of device issues and an alarm can
draw attention to them.

Field Device Manager for HART and FoxCom can use either a generic DTM or
a customer supplied DTM to access other data in an interactive fashion -
see PSS 21S-8A5 B3.

Additionally, a package called EFS (see PSS 21S-8A8 B3) can be used to
slowly scan HART devices for additional information which can be
processed by the InFusion Condition Manager to initiate work orders.

Re: Secondly, in the case of costume units the HMI on the transmitter
still reads the appropriate units (i.e. KPPH) but this value does not
come across on the PVUNITS or SVUNITS. Got any ideas??????

Sorry, I don't know what you are asking. :( (You don't have a clue as to
how much I hate to admit that. :))

However, I'm going to guess. (You didn't think a little ignorance would
hold me back did you?)

I think that you are asking how to coordinate the engineering units in
the I/A Series I/O block and the transmitter.

My understanding is that this has to be done manually. The value is
delivered in the appropriate engineering units and not rescaled by the
block, but it is simply "passed through" with the engineering units
being used for display decoration.

Subject: [foxboro] FoxCOM to HART Conversion - Address?

We have a customer that is undergoing an I/O conversion from 100 series
to the 200 series I/O. Since the FoxCOM protocol will not be supported
or available sometime in the foreseeable future their desire is to
convert all FoxCOM FBMs (FBM18 / FBM39) to HART (FBM214). We are
currently working on this conversion using a Foxboro FoxCOM pressure
(IDP) transmitter. The physical conversion is relatively simple (i.e.
changing an electronics "puck" on the transmitter). All process
variables look good (primary, secondary etc.). We have proven that
certain transmitter data stays in the transmitter (i.e. High Output
Value, Low Output Value, Swapping Meas1 w/ Meas2 etc.). However, other
transmitter data (i.e. Tag Name, Descriptor, M1 Units etc.) does not
appear to be available from the list of Block Parameter given in the
Foxboro documentation (B0400FF Rev C - HART(tm) Communication Interface
Modules (FBM214/215/216/218) User's Guide). We have proven, in our
minds, that these vari
ables still reside in the "transmitter" electronics.
Does anyone know if these variables have been addressed over to the HART
interface or are these memory addresses only available to the FoxCOM
modules? We would really like to be able to preserve these values
without having to retouch each transmitter. Secondly, in the case of
costume units the HMI on the transmitter still reads the appropriate
units (i.e. KPPH) but this value does not come across on the PVUNITS or
SVUNITS. Got any ideas??????

Thanks in Advance,
Jeff Ellis
