FYI you can image update to the same version, you do not have to install a
newer version.
Per our discussion we are using image update to defrag the FCP270. Of the 3
methods to reboot/restore an FCP270
Init and Loadall/Deploy
Reboot from checkpoint file
Image Update
Image update has the shortest downtime for the FCP270.

Thanks Angel and David
The offending IND block now has a CSIZE of 9K2 after I split out one of the
functions The FCP270 MAXMEM is now at 18K after moving one compound out While
the problem existed MAXMEM (largest segment) was getting down to 10K most
notably while ICC was open This has been very helpful and gives me something to
work with next week, If there is a newer version than 920055 ill try image
update first Definitely will create a script to monitor them all and consider
CSPACE Shaun
** I do have to take this opportunity to give development a nudge I have 9
FDC280+IBk-s which are un-suitable for our routed PLC networks hence im being
forced to stretch the limits of the older CP+IBk-s

Check the MaxMem parameter on the fcp270 station block. Once this value gets
below 32k due to fcp270 memory fragmentation you run the risk of not being able
to install a sequence block whose size can be up to 32k.
MaxMem defaults to 64k after a reboot. Over time it will drop as sequence block
edits are performed. This is due to the fact that seq blocks are deleted then
added back when installed from ICC or Control Editior. This action creates
holes in the memory that will eventually result in memory fragmentation.
You must reboot (both modules at the same time if fault tolerant) to reset the
MaxMem back to 64k. I believe image update (cold restart or warm restart) will
also defrag an fcp270.
Using CSpace is a way to reserve additional memory for the seq block so that it
can be added back to the same memory location when modified to help prevent
fragmentation.
Regardless of memory fragmentation you should keep an eye on seq block size
since 32k is the maximum allowed.

All knowing list
I made a small edit to an IND block and got E35 error not enough memory when I
compiled it I temp solved the problem by deleting a development compound with
100 blocks This FCP270 has been in more than 10 years and has reached block
limit before, at the moment it has about 3K7 blocks.
The last time this CP was full I moved a compound with 300 blocks and a large
IND into a FCP280
Can anybody confirm that a reboot will improve the memory situation or whether
it takes a load_all
Shaun
