There is the one additional caveat with the ZCP. The FT connector is supposed
to get installed on the Shadow module prior to inserting into cell bus. This
way as module recives power it also engages the primary module. Without the ft
connector no cables should be on Shadow as it would be perceived as a single
primary module.

ZCPs have extra cables (I/O) which are elevator related and cannot be
installed prior to installing the module...

FCP's do not have such cables.

In both module cases, pre connection of cables is viable if it is the
Shadow.
However if you are just plugging a FCP or ZCP into a system as the Primary
module then caution should be taken to not attach cables unless you
absolutely know it's personality that is resident in memory...

So in the Primary case...no cables...letterbug reader...etc....

Subject: [foxboro] FCM/CP Insertion

( I'll try Again )

A dilemma

Both v8.5 and 8.6 release notes clearly say that when adding the second of a
fault
tolerant pair of CP or FCM,

1 Connect the cables to the station
2 Insert the module with it's partner

In the ZCP User Guide it specifically says not to disconnect the cables, put
the
module in, then wait for specific operation of the LEDs, and only then
connect the
cables. (It then specifies which screw to tighten first.)

In the FCP User Guide, it specifically says to connect the cables first,
then put
the module onto the baseplate next to the partner, tighten the screws and
observe
that it marries.

I haven't yet found a book which specifies the FCM startup sequence.

So, if I have a ZCP, do I use the User Guide method or the Release Notes
method?
Any insight?
