This will result in less communication since the tracker is only sending heartbeats instead of running the same messages as the Master. You need a switch/hub and both FBMs must be on the same network. They need to be able to communicate to each other by Ethernet. It's quite well explained in the FoxDoc and needs to be configured in the FDSI Configurator. Comm test is sept 1st. I realize the redundant FBM233 might cause some problems because the siemens is not redundant. We added (or are going to add) a switch between the FBM and the device to obtain FBM redundancy, there was no requirement to setup a redundant PLC, but there might be in the future when we connect other devices. If we do have problems w'll have to disable switching and the system alarm for this FBM unfortunately.... The PLC is an SIMATIC S7-300, CPU 315F-2DP FAILSAFE We're also using a CP343-1 comm card for the moment there will be only one device connected to the FBM Nobody mentioned anything about special drivers, Invenys installed their modbus driver. We'll find out on thursday if it works...... Keep you posted Kind regards Dirk "Badura, Tom" <tbadura@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent by: foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx 30/08/2011 16:19 Please respond to foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To <foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> cc Subject Re: [foxboro] FBM 232/233 and Siemens PLC Dirk, We are also at a point of trying to connect an FBM232 to Siemens PLCs on our industrial Ethernet. I don't have any answers for you but have a lot of questions myself. We are working with S7-300 PLCs and do not require redundant communications. IA system is at Ver 8.4 FBM232 < -- > CP343-1 < -- > S7-300 Did you get your system working? What model(s) S7 PLC and comm. Cards you were using? Do you recall if a special Modbus driver was required on the Siemens side or if this is inherent in the Siemens Ethernet card? - The S7-300 version is a CP343-1. Do you have any other devices besides the FBM and Siemens PLC(s) on this network or is it dedicated to just these devices? I would greatly appreciate any and all additional input on this subject. Note - we used to use an old integrator MG30 for serial Modbus to a modbus card in an old Siemen 505 series PLC. I do recall a register offset issue where you had to address register 2 (20002) to get PLC register 1. Tom Badura Plastics Engineering Company tbadura@xxxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- Subject: [foxboro] FBM 232/233 and siemens PLC Hi list, Has anyone got any experience with ethernet FBM 232/233 and siemens PLC's? We're using modbus and i was wondering what I would need to use as PNT_NO for the DCI blocks. The Siemens "to DCS" register starts with 400101, with a classic Modbus GW30 I had adresses starting at 40001, and we used PNT_NO's starting at 1. Can I do this for the FBM232/233 also?
