"Do you mean remote access from a non-DCS computer to the Sun box?" - YES!
This is to remote desktop (see & interact with foxview running on an old sun
box) from a windows (10 or server 2016) OS.
Would putty support this? I'm familiar with putty to linux boxes but I'm
usually googling my way through that.
Using RDP to the 'mesh' (windows fox servers). Works brilliantly! Comes with
windows so a real no-brainer there.
Trying to do similar to this one remaining sun box but not sure where to start.

For the first, you can use X11 for remote access to Unix machines. Sun boxes
have X11 aka X Window already installed (usr/openwin directory). We have used
Apple Macs to connect to our Sun boxes, for both view-only and control. Older
Macs had X11 pre-installed at /usr/bin/X11, newer Macs require you to download
and install it (open source), for which xquartz.org is recommended.
If you're connecting from a Windows OS there are some free options but I
haven't tried them myself. Quick search led me here:

which recommends Xming software.
For connecting to a Windows H90 server on the DCS, you can use Microsoft Remote
Desktop. The client software is free for Windows/Mac, and you need to enable
remote desktop settings on the server. There are probably some free client
softwares out there for Unix, but I only have experience with ones for Mac.
