Ion,
You write-up has a number of errors.
CSA is a service that maintains a database of unique top-level names, i.e.,
compounds, and of objects (blocks) that are owned by the top-level name.
Workfiles are maintained by the ICC/ICC Driver Task and contain the definitions
of the compounds and blocks in a particular station.
Each of these databases can be corrupted separately or jointly.
All,
I copied Ion's personal email address with documentation that provides more and
better detail on the relationship among the CP, workfiles, and the CSA service.
If any one on the list wants a copy, please write to me directly -
alexander.johnson@xxxxxx - and I'll send them to you. DO NOT copy the list with
your request; that just annoys the other users.

Alex

Subject: [foxboro] Corrupt CP database
[External email: Use caution with links and attachments]
________________________________
When you open the CSA to access data of a CP the contents of the working file
of that CP show in your CSA so you work directly with the OPEN working file.
When you finish work or you exit the CSA, the checkpoint file of that CP is
overwritten. Now, if you don't exit the CSA and "cut" connection with your
station, you didn't update the checkpoint file, and next time when you enter
the CSA, if possible, you'll get a working file that doesn't match your
checkpoint file. That's why you get the situation that you describe. Now, there
is the danger that when you were disconnected, the CP working file could be
corrupted. (e.g. file was not closed properly). The only way to recover is to
do a checkpoint of that CP, and of course the old and good database will update
the working file of that CP, too. There a few more actions you must do to get
to access properly the CSA. For a serious Site, the RDP session should be used
for "view-only".
Those are not suggestions; they are my comments only!
Regards,
Ion.
