Thanks for clearing this up guys. -----Original Message----- From: foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Johnson, Alex P (IPS) Sent: Monday, March 23, 2009 1:22 PM To: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [foxboro] CFT10 on a FBM43 Tom is correct. The CFT10 is an FBM. It sits directly on the 100-Series fieldbus like any other FBM. Here's an excerpt from the PSS (PSS 1-2B3 C): I/A Series System Fieldbus Interface Connection to an I/A Series System is by direct connection to the Fieldbus, as with other Foxboro Fieldbus Modules. This bus operates at up to 268 kbaud, and incorporates dual circuits for faulttolerant operation. The scan rate is determined by the configuration of the I/A Series system. Direct digital communication removes the conversion errors which are inherent in other systems. The information which can be modified and displayed from the I/A Series System Workstation is: * Digital Output (Measured Values) in user selected Engineering Units * Description * Flowtube Calibration Database * Engineering Units * Location * Tag Number In addition, the Totalized Mass measurement can be reset to zero, and the Zero point of the Flow measurement calibrated from the Workstation. To ensure system security, once the I/A Series System has switched the transmitter on line, remote operators cannot switch it off line or change its configuration through the HHT or Display/Keypad (though they can still read measurements and examine the configuration). This is to ensure that the operation of a control loop cannot be inadvertently upset by an operator in the field. There are redundant fieldbus terminals on the CFT10 for this purpose. I do not believe you can connect a Foxcom FBM directly to the current output (I-, I+) of the CFT10 as you can with other Foxboro instruments. There is also not a Digital Output mode configuration option for the current output of the CFT10. I do believe you need to use the ECB22 for the CFT10 and this is not a child ECB. When we installed a new 200 series FBM system we had to install a separate FCM100E just to provide the 100 series fieldbus for the CFT10s. As a side note the new CFT50 does not provide any Foxcom capability only Hart. I'm running P91 Version 8.3 Software and it is hanging off a FCP270 FT Pair. After reading the manuals B0193AW I can only find an ECB22 for a CFT10 and I think this is when you hang it off the PIOBUS which I'm not doing. I would rather use the 4 to 20 mA Signal as an input to the FBM43. I have 6 other channels working on this FBM with FoxComm Transmitters in Digital Mode 4800 BAUD and they work fine. When I make my CFT10 a Child (ECB18) of this FBM43 it looks like it communicates and it goes online ok but I cannot talk to it with IFDC which is on the same BOX (P91). I keep getting the following errors : over and over again...........Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. _______________________________________________________________________ This mailing list is neither sponsored nor endorsed by Invensys Process Systems (formerly The Foxboro Company).
