I have a plant full of SVX drives running profibus DP communication to PLC's.
From the PLC's we use FBM232's (Modbus) to get to Fox I/A. This system has
proven very reliable. In general we keep our motor controls in the PLC's.
If you want further details, please let me know. Yvon.

{plus User group info...}
Chad/Tom,
We interfaced to those drives at a refinery in Alaska (using FBM 232/Modbus
TCP). Please contact me off-list and we can discuss more details...
Regarding a local 'user group': at one point (back in the late 90's) there was
an active Midwest I/A Users group (held occasional 'roving' meetings in places
like Green Bay, Indianapolis, ...). I would encourage you and others to try
pull something together (however informal/infrequent...). There is a regional
group in the Southeast US that has remained active over the years who has done
a good job sharing & networking (next meeting rumored to be in January).
Lastly, while on the topic of User Groups, the Schneider Electric/Foxboro
Steering committee has been working on the next annual Foxboro User Group
meeting (to be combined/in parallel with Triconex and Modicon). Current
speculation is New Orleans (possibly Orlando) in May. Date and location to be
finalized/announced soon, stay tuned...

Hey Chad,
Sorry - no help on the CH drives although I am currently working through some
problems connecting Eaton Smart Overload Relays (C440, C441) via Profibus
(FBM223).
On your other item - we are located just down the road in Sheboygan, WI. I am
sure we would have plenty to talk about and learn from each other. Hopefully
others in the area will chime in and perhaps we can set something up sometime
down the road.

Is anyone else out there using Cutler Hammer (Eaton) SVX series drives at their
facility with Foxboro? I'm setting up a trial to communicate all of the drive
info into and out of Foxboro via an FBM 232. I'd love to hear in general what
your control set-up looks like and what your experience was: smooth sailing or
rough sledding.
Also I'll take this opportunity to see, is there anyone else on this list using
Foxboro reasonably close to Neenah, Wisconsin? We've got a small group of
engineers here that would love to network with someone local and see what we
can learn from each other.
