Hello all I am after some advice on wireless Operator workstations, hardware & software. Our DCS has so far has managed to remain unix only with B,D & E boxes at V6.2.1. We are currently doing a DCS conversion on an older plant area that has lots of local stop/start button on drives -screw feeders/presses where, if problems occur, then the Operator really needs to be there to watch the equipment start up. It would save a lot of DCS inputs/wiring/complications if we could eliminate/reduce the local controls and have the Operator go over to the Plant with a terminal in his hands. We are currently using go-global for remote DMs, but this has its problems. I would also prefer hardware that is more user-friendly for a roving Operator than a notepad pc.
