Corey,

Thanks for your comments. I think the file that you were referencing is
iafonts.ali and we do have that file. For Display Manager full screen you need
the "Lxxxxx" fonts and we do have them (when we look at the fonts database in
Exceed). We set up the fonts data base on Exceed per the HH so I think my
problems now come from the parameters in the dmcfg file.

I will wait for a period when I can reboot the WP51 to test the Exceed
performance under different dmcfg settings.

Terry

An issue we ran into is that when you maximize a DM window at 1280x1024,
the markers disappear or become strange characters. This may not sound
like much until you realize all the up and down arrows in configurators
and the ramp keys in the standard button bar are apparently some kind of
markers. Annoying.

It has to do with font substitution in Exceed. There's a HH covering it,
but it prescribes copying some Exceed font database files from some
Foxboro software package I don't have, so I modified my font database by
trial and error (and looking at Exceed's logs for unresolved font
requests) and now it works fine.

I 'm not sure if the issue affects Foxview, since it does not use markers,
but configurators and such will still be affected.

Hi Terrence,

Best place the I/A fonts on the eXceed PC. The Xterminal doc still
provides=
some useful hints on how to do that.
Replacement fonts usually don't give you the same look.

Ron,
=

Thanks for your comments. I did notice the "full screen" issue. I changed
=
the definition for Engineer in dmcfg for "Window Attributes" to F and now
t=
he PC shows the full screen OK. Without F ( - default) when we
toggled=
to full screen, it would briefly jump to full CRT but then drop back to
de=
fault size. =

=

I will look at the Exceed Fonts to see if I can fix up the displays.
Presen=
ty, real values on the Exceed do not have the same resolution as real
value=
s on the WP51, even though the Exceed has a higher resolution that the
main=
head of the WP51.

Terrence,

Remote DM/Foxview is independent from the local heads where screen
resolution is concerned.
The X-terminal shares the "alarm destination" with the WP logical name
and that is something to take into account.
If you want an Alarm manger associated with the remote DM you should do
so in the "dmdcfg" file.
Changes in this area as well as changes to the
"/usr/fox/wp/data/wp51_glbls" file and the (preferred)
"/usr/fox/wp/data/init.usr" file require a reboot of the station most of
the time, so prevent making mistakes ;-)

I have heard of problems when you maximize the remote DM/Foxview on high
res screens (freezes, no resize possible that kind of stuff) but to
resolve that you don't need to reboot the AW/WP.

Sure hope this has helped

Regards

List,
=3D

Does the configuration of the video port /dev/fb0 on AW51 (1152 X 900 X
66) have any impact on the resolution of the FoxView on a remote PC
running Exceed?
=3D

The Exceed PC can be configured 1280 X 1024 with the LCD's that are in
use. We normally set them to 1024X768.
=3D

The AW is on a running process with some supervisory programs, so I
cannot reboot it (too often) to play with settings. =3D

=3D

Thanks,
=3D
