Hi guys, =

(Is that politically correct?)

I would do an informal survey on types of Bus Technologies that are being=
 used
out there. Are they here to stay, or just a fad? What technologies are =
you
using? Would you use it again? Would if you could build a green-field
plant?

I will go first...
In the not so distant future, I will be installing Profibus for communica=
tions
to remote I/O racks. This was a decision heavily made by vendor specific=

products, but does have its advantages. Profibus is an established
technology, rated near the top for intelligence, and will generally allow=
 for
integration of different vendor devices. Some of the other technologies =
that
I see as getting the most press lately, and what I view as Leaders are
Foundation Fieldbus HSE & H1, DeviceNet, & AS-i. I know there are many m=
ore
our there as well, ControlNet, ArcNet, BlueTooth, CANopen, Interbus, Modb=
us,
LonWorks, WorldFIP, etc, and that these technologies solve different
applications. But I would like to stay away from that issue, and focus o=
n
what is being used, what is most common, and what you like.

Lance
