Dale,

Although not elegant, you could use /opt/fox/bin/tools/som

on the host of your AIM Historian.

Once you execute som, then type:

opdb

This will give you rows and columns on your CRT. Under the column "Lbug"
you will see the letterbug of the host of the historian. If it is a large
historian you will see many rows with your letterbug under the column.

m opdb

will give you more pages of rows and columns. Hitting Carriage Return or Enter
will repeat the last command ( m opdb) until you see the message Operation
Complete"

For each row where your letterbug is listed note the row number under the first
column (001, 002 for example)

The type

opvr 1 (for 001)

and

m opvr (until you see the Operation Complete message)

This will display a Compound:Block.Parameter that you recognize. Underneath
the C:B.P you want to see the word "Scanning". This is good and it means
that the C:B.P is a good point in a controller somewhere.

If you see the words "No Response" underneath the C:B.P then it is a bad point.

All of this could get confusing if you have application programs that open
lists on this host or display managers (FV or DM) or remote display managers
running off this host. But perhaps it will help you.

If it is possible to stop the AIM Historian, you could run som while historian
is OFF and see what lists are not from the historian then re-start it to see
the numbers for the new lists and you could check the new lists for "No
Response".

q to quit som.

Regards,

Terry

Objet : [foxboro] AIM Historian BAD POINTS

Hello List.

I use IA Ver 6.5.2 and run AIM 3.2.4 Historian. The older versions of
this AIM used to give you a list of BAD Points (ie points historized but
may not exist in your CP anymore) that may be in the Historian when it
started up....in some log file under /opt/aim/inst. It doesn't seem to
do this anymore with the newer version. Can anyone help me in finding a
tool that will do this or point me in the proper direction?

Dale Gillis
