THis is indeed a glorious VICTORY for the sons of GOD to be
delivered from the "strength of sin". "/_For the law _/(i.e.; the
principle)/_of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from
the law_/(i.e.; the principle)/_ of sin and death_. For what the law
could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own
Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the
flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who
walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." (Rom 8:2-4/) When we
walked in the flesh (i.e.; without the SPIRIT of GOD) the natural
corruption which we inherited from our father Adam was that principle by
which we lived (i.e.; the work of the law which was written in our heart
(see Rom 2:15)), moved, and had our being. Being now made new creatures
in CHRIST we are set free from that principle. THis is the work of
GRACE from HIM whose mercy is everlasting.
