Greetings sis Reis; et al;
These are good thoughts recorded by mr Hawker. All men without exception
receive of the mercy of GOD daily as HE is pleased to feed them and
bless them in various ways, though they are a rebellious and unthankful
lot. The sons of GOD receive of these same mercies, yet they have
something which the sons of Adam do not. THat is the "mercy promised".
Faithful is HE that called you who will also do it. HE does indeed show
this "mercy promised" to them as HE brings LIFE and IMMORTALITY to LIGHT
in the Gospel of HIS glory. All of HIS promises are YEA and AMEN in
CHRIST which is the MERCY promised.

Hast thou received him as a free mercy, an undeserved mercy? Hast thou accepted him as so seasonable a mercy, that, without him, thou wouldest have been undone for ever? Is he now so truly satisfying to thee in all thy desires, for time and for eternity, that thou canst bid adieu to every enjoyment, if needful; and, looking up to Jesus, canst truly say, "Whom have I in heaven but thee, and there is none upon earth that I desire besides thee?" Oh my soul, if this be thy portion, then hast thou a Benjamin's portion indeed! God thy Father hath given thee indeed the mercy promised; and Jesus is, and will be, thy mercy, and the mercy of all mercies, to all eternity. Amen.*
