As part of the three way agreement among the FAA, the Town of Taos, and
the Taos Pueblo, that resulted in Runways 31 and 13 finally being built,
a monitoring system was installed that would track and record flights by
way of transponder returns. Previous airport manager John Thompson
showed me the system. I was under the impression that the graphical
displays of flights in and out of KSKX were available to be viewed by
the Pueblo authorities. If the arrangement is still in place it obviates
the need for any other oversight.
*In any case the post by David Chasteen on Facebook smacks of Taos
pilots eating their young and is is extremely distasteful to me.*
TPA is going to great lengths to present itself as the face of aviation
at KSKX. I know that many Taos pilots are not members of TPA and, myself
included, do not necessarily align with the positions that TPA seems to
hold or agree with the initiatives that it is pursuing.
Perhaps a name change along the lines of 'Friend of Taos Airport' would
be a more appropriate, less loaded label for the organization.
Sincerely,
Ferdinand de Souza, CFII Gold Seal (hey, whatever helps!)

If you knew the 30 year history of the approval and construction of 13/31, you would better understand the context of the Pueblo concerns.
Please take the time to understand the context before reacting.

See the attached, which is posted to Taos groups on Facebook. The so-caked "Taos Pilots Association" has deemed itself the enforcer for flights near Taos Pueblo. Now they want to make Ray the enforcer of flights into Taos Regional. As my friends from Texas would say, "Bless their hearts." FAR/AIM anyone?
