Howdy all,
Back before Covid disrupted everyone's lives, those of you from '79 and '80
will remember we had a combined tailgate and football watch party at our
house here in College Station in 2018 and 2019. We had good turnouts with
12-15 plus spouses from each of our classes attending. Well...... Jody and I
would like to start this back up. I'd also like to invite the really old
guys from the BQ Classes of '77 and '78 this time around.
After talking to Dean Nelson and Will McKerall yesterday, we decided to
proceed and do this on November 5th. We will be playing Florida that
weekend. It should be cooled off by then, and a better than average chance
of being a 2:30 game or later. I spoke with David Pointon '77 and Bruce
Hamilton '78 today. They both agreed this sounded like a good time and would
pass this on to their respective BQ classes. I've copied Dean, Will, David
and Bruce all in on this email.
So, BQ '80, put this date in your calendars and let me know if you would like
to attend. For those of you within driving distance, it should be a lot of
fun and an easy day trip. We will get started 3 or 4 hours before kick-off
if it's an afternoon game or later. We'll have food and drinks (In the past,
we have had a jar set up on the counter for folks to help offset the costs).
And we'll have TVs inside and outside to watch the game on for those of you
that might not have tickets or don't care to attend the game. I plan to stay
at the house and watch it on TV and let a couple of my family members use my
tickets.
Dean '79, Will '79, David '77 and Bruce '78.... please let your respective
classes know what we are planning. Feel free to forward this email to them
with whatever comments y'all might like to add. And if you don't mind, copy
me in when you do communicate to your classmates. If you do generate some
interest from your classes, please keep a headcount and update me from time
to time. As we get closer, we'll workout more details.
