It seems that some of you at least have an inkling or a hope. Out here in
SD--no word. According to our hospital administrator, our county has received
1,500 doses and has given all to health care workers, nursing home workers,
pharmacists, and those in nursing homes that did not have Covid. Looks like it
will be a long time--at least 2-3 months until we hear of people over 65
getting the shots. One thing we did hear was that there is a shortage of
syringes!! Oh, my what next. BUT if teachers are before the old people, I am
getting in line as I once was a teacher! Gotta count for something. My
friends across the border in MN have gotten letters from their health care
provider that it is coming--no mention of when but to stay tuned. Those of you
who have at least seen some hope--go for it.
Our county has 30,000 and our state 800,000 people. But our governor sat at
the right of Trump--so now we may get pushed to the end of the line. Oh, the
natives on the reservation got vaccinated IF they spoke the Lakota language.
Our temps this week will be in the upper 20's. Delightful for this time of
year. My farm cats like me because I feed them. The steers like me because I
feed them. The bred heifers like me because I feed them. And Al is doing so
much better because I feed him. All I know.
Enjoy the Sunday--I heard the Bears are playing today!!
Pam

Did you mean to say “80”?

Down here in Indiana the age limit to apply is 80. There is a phone-in service
here in Fort Wayne that can be called to set up an appointment, but the TV
stations are reporting that most calling in are not getting through. There is
also a website set up to use but the TV reporters are saying that they are
finding so many in this age group are not able to use (understand how) this
method, or even have internet access. In spite of the access problems, they
report because of the appointments that did get set up, it will probably take
months to get through those who have managed to register.
One thing they did get right, at least in this county, is setting up in the big
event arena here to administer the vaccine. Since they are not hosting
basketball, hockey, RV shows, and garden shows etc. now, there is plenty of
space to safely (safer) execute this project. But I also hear that there is a
shortage of available vaccine now too.
What a mess. Seems like 2021 is getting off to a rocky start.
Stay safe,

Wondering who has scheduled their Covid vaccine. I tried to schedule mine just
now through my local health provider because several friends did and got
appointments for tomorrow! Unfortunately I just got my second shingles
vaccination yesterday so I have to wait 2 weeks.
