They did open but one TV blurb mentioned something like "hours might be
irregular at first" because of problems hiring enough help.....might not
hurt to phone ahead if you're making a special trip. One day I
reallllllllly try to avoid - might be Sunday??? - for a few hours they
give free one-dip cones. Sounds great but people are lined up down the
block. Oh, found this wording on Facebook:

Holy wow, here it is the twooth of March and with all of the excitement of Paczki, I'm eating one now, Day it was also opening day for the Union Dairy!! Our official Freeport reporter, Karen, didn't mention the grand day. Probably too busy eating ice cream. Now I'll have to pack up a couple paczkis and head to Union Dairy for some ice cream to go along with them. Just think, a bite of a paczki followed by a couple spoons of Union Dairy ice cream. *M-M-M-M-M-M GOOD!! * That must be why they call it Fat Tuesday.
