Root beer float was always black cow in our house. Can’t imagine ice cream in
coke. Not sweet enough.

At my grandmas that was a riot beer float. A black cow was vanilla ice

were not the same.

Speaking of cows, this stray thought popped into my head. Unusual, my
head doesn't work that well.
I remember my fathers favorite drink was a "black cow". It was
considered a real treat at our house while I was growing up. He would
go out to A&W and get a gallon of root-beer and would pour the root-beer
in to a tumbler with couple of scoops of vanilla ice-cream.
I was not that impressed. The root-beer had pretty much gone flat by
then and I didn't care much for either root-beer or vanilla ice-cream.
But it was popular with the rest of the family. When I brought Oki home
she took to it right away.
Anyone else call this concoction a "black cow"? Isn't this just a
root-beer float?
