Steve, John and I like movies ... watch a bunch on Netflix and Amazon Prime and
Acorn. But John cannot stand it if people in the audience are talking during
the movie!! So we don't go. Last movie I saw was a few years ago. My niece
Laura was visiting from Baltimore and we went to see the Downton Abbey movie. A
few changes since I'd last been! No more open seating, we had reserved seats.
The theater complex had a bar in the center and a couple of restaurants. I
can't remember what all was there but it was definitely an "entertainment
center."DonnaSent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

Haven't been to a movie theater in years
We're not big movie goers. The last time we were in a theater
was about four years ago when the Korean film Parasite came out.
There was so much noise about it with all the nominations and
awards we thought it might be fun to see on the big screen. And
it had been quite a few years since we had been in a movie theater
anyway.
So early one evening visited our nearest AMC theater. Had
checked the website so I knew the start time. We stumbled in at
the stated start time to advertisements blaring on the screen.
Found some seats we liked, sat down and noticed the whole place
was practically empty.
We sat there for twenty minutes watching ads before some other
folks started straggling in. We finely figured out that these
people knew what we didn't, that the movie actually starts a half
an hour after the listed start time, just so they can get you in
to watch commercials for half an hour first. Find this
particularly annoying after paying so much for a ticket and then
having to endure all that advertising.
The movie finally came on and the sound level was so high we had
to stick tissues in our ears to protect our hearing. And if that
was not enough, the picture was blurry, not in focus, and was way
too dark. The movie was a disappointment too.
So our experience was not a pleasant one. Needles to say, it
probably will be a long time before we ever go to a movie theater
again, especially with the prices they get these days.

I just watched a bit on the evening news about the new Batman
movie
coming to the AMC theaters. The story was about how AMC is
charging
more for Batman than other movies, playing at the same theaters at
the
same time. If we were both going to this movie, and would both go
together if we went, it would cost us nearly $40.
Does anyone else find this a ridiculously high price for attending
a
movie? The theaters are complaining that people are not coming
back to
the theaters - well, DUH!
