Hello friends & colleagues,

trained by Share our Strength for 2 days in DC at the end of May (expenses
paid) and will receive a $3,000 stipend upon the completion of their work by
early/mid-August. The position would report to the Columbus office and would
have frequent travel within the city of Columbus, so reliable transportation

I'm asking for your help in spreading the word to any candidates you think may
have an interest in gaining additional experience and knowledge in
child/community nutrition and hunger awareness issues. Have you worked with any
students or recent graduates lately that might be interested?
Project Description:
Children's Hunger Alliance is working to expand access to nutritious summer
meals to Columbus children through a collaboration with Columbus Recreation and
Parks, Columbus City Schools, St. Vincent Family Centers, The Ohio State
University (OSU), and Share Our Strength. The objective of this collaboration
is to provide of five open summer meal sites. These summer sites, hosted at
Columbus City School buildings, will serve children who are not part of any
formal summer enrichment programming. At these sites, children will be able to
obtain a free meal, and participate in enrichment activities such as CHA's
Coordinated Approach to Childhood Health (CATCH) Kids Club nutrition education
and physical activity programming. St. Vincent Family Centers will provide
training to the part-time, temporary staff hired to conduct the summer meal
program. Columbus Recreation and Parks will provide breakfast and lunch each
day. OSU will collect data during the programming to assess its effectiveness,
and Share Our Strength has committed to placing two, full-time summer
ambassadors with CHA to assist with outreach, marketing and awareness, and site
operations.
Thanks,
Shannon Amos
