Hello Guys, on a cool day for May!!
There were 10 participants for today's exchange club meeting.
There was a moan by Cearbhall /Stuart, about the button you tap to admit
people to the meetings.
It seems that it is quite tempremental, and does not always work smoothly.
Lady Jackie had a problem!! Well well, our guru with a tech problem.
Everytime she used short cut keys to do something or other, the control key
would but in before the letter like control +letter a or using the windows
key , the control would come before the short cut letter.
It was solved by the company logging into her laptop, and doing something
to get rid of the problem.
This is a Windows problem and not a Jaws problem.
Albert had a similar problem, sometime ago and used Control +Shift +Escape
keys to get rid of the problem.
Cearbhall is very happy now using Soundscape as his street guide, but
Jackie and Albert still favour Blind square as their walking guide.
Martin /Paul also favour Soundscape and both reported that when in a field
or park, the soundscape app called out Sports Field.
Paul shared his problem of applying to renew his parking permit.
He opened the website www.iwa.ie <http://www.iwa.ie> , the body who controls
the issuing of the permits.
After looking at his previous permits, and supplying his e mail address, he
wanted to pay using his credit card.
There was a continue button to page 3, but this did nothing , and this page
was the page to fill in his card details.
His wife rang the girl in the Irish wheelchair association, who said that
people using Apple phones could not open page 3.
Paul tried using firefox on his desktop, and Edge, but both of these did
not allow him to open the credit card page to pay for the permit.
He will let people know when he has solved the problem, and paid
successfully for the permit.

It seems worth doing, but there is a great amount of difficulty in
subscribing quickly.
Stuart told Paul on how to lock his orientation.
Go to the Control Panel, (use a 3 finger upwards swipe to engage the
Control Panel, and arrow down to the end where one can select either
Portrait or Landscape.
In Lock Orientation.
Jackie told Paul to make sure that he was in Portrait mode before Locking
orientation permently into portrait mode.
Jackie can't use her History link in her Zoom meetings.
She has tried the up and down arrows to get it to read the various
meetings.
Cearbhall thought that there might be a setting in her Zoom preventing her
from using the history menu.
Paul asked her to log out and log in again, and tab to the history menu,
and try using the up and down arrows again.
A discussion was had about some developers like Voice Dream Reader, were
now charging for their apps.
These people put some very hard work in keeping their apps up to date, and
they have families to raise and support, and most of us think that they
perhaps need to charge for their great apps.
Martin told us of his visit to the library to investigate the Pen Reader.
It looks like a pen , and where the nib is on a pen, there is a camera.
also there are some controls on the pen.
Its brilliant but only reads one line or word at a time.
Perhaps its really not suitable for blind people but better suited to
people with dyslexia. .
