Michael started proceedings with a question on calendars. He wanted to know
what people recommended to use for their calendar.
Cearbhall and Mary said that the default calendar on the Iphone was very
good, and easy to use.
Mary ssaid that most times when she gets an E mail with an appointment, Siri
will say that a it has found a new appointment date.
When she clicks that link, the appointment will appear on her calendar.
Bert said that there was a calendar for VIP’S, called Fantastico, but he
thought it was costing money to download.
Mary wanted to know how to go back to a video on U Tube.
She gets recipes from BBC Radio 4, and often wants to go back a few steps to
see the recipe again.
Paul/Bert/Martin, thought that she could add these recipes to the link MY
SUBSCRIPTIONS, . Martin suggested she use the keys control +letter H,
to bring up the history menu.
Other keys are. Control + Tab to bring up another list of options on U
Tube. Like enlargement of the screen.
Martin said using the letter H, will bring up the last few videos, that
you were watching.
At this stage someone mentioned control shift +letter o, brings up the
favourites in Microsoft Edge.
Bert mentioned a bad experience he had with Virgin Media. They rang him to
say that his Box was out of date, and he must get box 360.
Engineers came out and installed the new box, which works with sound.
Bert tried to get some help from the installer, but he gave him some keys to
press and did not repeat them.
He thought that Bert should know all about the cabling before carried out by
Virgin Media, but Bert said that this was Virgin’s problem.
He was told that he must get a new modem, then told that he didn’t need a
new modem, then told that he needed finally to get a new modem!!
Bert got a new modem, in the post and installed it himself.
After a few days , he is now up to date with his Television, but found the
service left a lot to be desired.
This brought back bad memories to Claire and Tom, former clients of NTL, and
Virgin Media, they were both threatened with court actions, and both of them
left after that and joined SKY as clients.
Discussions ensued regarding social welfare entitlements,
Paul said that he got some free units of electricity from the company Eletric
Ireland. This was part of an household package going back many many years
ago, for visually impaired persons.
People then discussed TV licenses, GP cards, medical cards and so on.
Mary told us that she got Vodafone to reduce her monthly bill from 35€ TO 25
€ BY fluttering her eyelids and speaking softly to the agent!!
Many people including Claire and Mary said that Vodafone do a family
package, so as my wife pays 25 € per month and I pays 35€ per month, we would
be better with a family package. .
