Annnette: started off the meeting with a discussion on iCloud storage. There
has been issues for her downloading the latest IOS software update. a number of
suggestions were made to delete photos, files and pay for the extra storage. It
was also suggested to Annette to manually download the update, Paul explained
these steps so Annette will give it a go.
This discussion continued by Bert explaining about files in voiceDream getting
saved into the iCloud, This can be switched off.
Paul: then told us about checking on his two factor authentication. This was
done after he joined the Cork tech club on saturday. When he checked he
realised it was on and there was no option to turn it off. Bert has it on and
so far so good he isn't having any issues with it.
Declan explained its uses but it was agreed there is a time out feature that
could be worked on.
Michael, was telling us about the calls he has been receiving from other
countries, he was wondering about these calls. A discussion happened around the
different type of scams and the fact of opening a link could be dangerous for
your security.
Martin, wanted to know how he could delete email addresses from his outlook.
The steps got explained by Cearbhall and Bert. Cearbhall will be posting
instructions on how to delete these suggestions from the native mail app on
IOS.
This then lead onto a discussion about Imap and Pop3 and how on one emails are
deleted from the surver while the other one pop3 stores it unless you manually
direct it not to do so.
The meeting continued with more discussions on skills for Alexa in relation to
ham radio. One skill discussed is not available in Ireland. Bert and Tom spoke
about the new orbit writer. Tom agreed to purchase an orbit reader for Jackie.
The GPS apps were discussed again, this is a popular topic. Blind square still
seems to rein supreme. Clew was discussed and its flaw of not detecting single
steps or a small flight of 4 or less. Cearbhall tested this out in his large
home.
the meeting endded. Some details may have been omitted as the note taker
writing this mail didn't realise notes should have been taken.
yours
Jackie who will be seeking forgiveness.
