Before the meeting got underway, Mahon Carmody showed us the new accessible
ballot overlay which is attached to a ballot paper and allows a blind person
to cast their vote in a referendum. It has a box for both a "YES" and a "No"
choice overlaying the printed boxes on the voting paper.
There was a general discussion about learning braille.
Michael showed Annette how to save a contact which is sent as an attachment
in a message. Just open the message with the attachment and flick down until
you reach "Add new Contact" and double tap this option. Then tap the Done
button and that contact is added to your contacts.
Mary had a question regarding being notified about two-step authentication
when she turns on her phone; she uses both her finger print and a passcode
when logging on to the phone.
She also had a question about using the Whatsapp service saying she wasn't
getting notifications of new messages.
There was a discussion about using Outlook and Gmail settings to avoid
duplication of sent messages. Marian said that sometimes her sent messages
are replicated in her inbox. She had failed to replicate the problem at the
meeting so shewas advised to take note the next time it occurred; to note
the date and time stamp of both messages so as to be sure that there was
actual replication.
Cearbhall had a chat with Marian about the listing of books in BorrowBox She
said that the entire list of books weren't being read by VoiceOver.
Mary explained the use of Google maps to Annette.
