I would like to add my congratulations to Declan I have known Declan for many
years and his co-option is very well deserved. His parents and indeed his
grandparents have been tirelessly involved in furthering the rights of people
with visual disabilities. From an early age Declan has had a strong sense of
equality and social justice. He has worked at both a local level in Cabra and
at a national level to improve the rights of people with disabilities.
At a personal level I am very proud of Declan and his achievement in being
co-opted as a counsellor to Dublin City Council. I think we are very fortunate
to have such a young, dynamic and determined advocate on our behalf.
