Exchange club May 27th 2019

Annette wondered why some of her incoming messages are marked with "Muted"
whilst many more have no such flag on them. We explored the Settings options
for Notifications and for Sounds and Haptics to no avail. There were plenty
of muting and unmuting options but none made any difference to test messages
sent into her iPhone as we worked. We were left mystified as to what this
declaration "Muted" could mean when printed in her messages. If anyone can
shed a light on this, before we meet or at the next meeting, Annette and I
would really appreciate it!
Annette has always silenced her Voiceover by a double three-finger tap. She
intended this to mean that Voiceover was closed down. She was surprised to
find that when a sighted person tried to use the phone with their usual
gestures, the Voiceover control was still in the way. We looked at the
official method of stopping Voiceover by triple tapping the Home button.
Annette was delighted to find that the Voiceover control was now completely
removed and her phone was free to be used by a sighted person.
Mary is no longer FLUSHED and anxious as she took Bert and Paul's advice to
go to IConnect. She asked the meeting to especially thank Bert and Paul for
their guidance. She encountered a really helpful assistant who dismantled
the phone, cleaned out all the residue of the accident and replaced the
entire screen. Mary was delighted to find that the phone is working 100% and
nothing was lost!
Our next meeting will be on the 10th. Of June, as the Bank Holiday is next
Monday. We hope to see you all around the table with beaming smiles and full
of ideas!
