Subject: Cork tech club 30/06/2018
In Attendance: Derry Walsh, Ken Walsh, Martha Parkinson, Pat McCarthy and
Cearbhall O Medhra on phone.
Apologies: Chris Egan, Pat Walsh.
Cearbhall told the group about using the Seeing AI AP to read a medicine box.
Ken and Pat talked about the ID AP from Gingermind; they both agreed ID was
better for recognising the information in this type of situation. Cearbhall
was going to check it out.
Pat spoke to the group about updating Aps. Cearbhall and Pat had a
discussion on resetting Aps to older versions as sometimes the older version
are more accessible. Cearbhall gave an explanation on pairing devices to
PCs, for example pairing IPhone to a Pc. Cearbhall then went on to talk
about ITunes and Screen Readers.
Ken told the group about the Zoo plus Ap. Zoo Plus is an online pet shop.
Ken found this Ap very accessible when ordering his dog food. Ken also spoke
about changes to Face Book. The issue is Display and background colours on
FB posts. Voice over not able to pick up text on these posts. Pat and Ken
talked about changes in Messenger; the issue here was changes to how messages
are displayed.
Cearbhall spoke to the group about Braille Bank Statements. He was telling
us the quality of the Brail was not good.
Derry talked about the AIB ap. He found it difficult enough to use. Martha
prefers to use phone banking rather than the online banking platforms.
Next meeting of the Cork Exchange is Saturday 7th July, 2018 at 11.00am in
the Cork City Library, Grand Parade.
Regards,
Martha
