Today we started talking about landlines and the differences between the
copper wiring and connected to the modem. When using copper wiring you
don't lose service when the power goes. Its important you don't have a
cordless phone as you will loose power. As these phones need electric to
work.
Jackie was telling us how great her Hable One is, she was at the doctors
and it was so comfortable just to be texting without removing her phone from
her pocket. There is a feature of quick nav and Jackie accidentally either
turned this on or off. As certain functions like navigating stopped working.
Google was searched and finally Jackie realised she must have pressed keys
3, 4 and 6. once She repeated this combination the Hable returned to normal
and Jackie stopped crying.
Pat was telling about getting his new iPhone 3rd generation and how he set
it up by placing the phones near each other. Rather than going through
iCloud.
Chris was telling us about his new iPad and the fact his emails didn't copy
over. we realised all Chris needed to do was sign into his Gmail account in
the mail settings.
Jackie piped up on setting up an outlook.ie account and how the proving
your not a robot is so easy. The audio challenge is so easy. there was a
question: what number has people in it. When you played the challenge there
was three different sounds. all you needed to do was put 1, 2 or 3 into the
box and that was you proved human.
The split screen was discussed by all iPad users. For someone who depends on
Voiceover the split screen makes it more difficult. Pat said he rather's the
iPod over the iPad.
Ken attempted to sign up for the My NCBI smart hub, there was an error
message when signing up. So we don't know if it worked. We all said the idea
of the smart hub was great. As once people were registered for it contacting
NCBI would be much easier.
NCBI were giving away 500 free Alexis to the first 500 people that emailed
them for world global accessibility day. Here is the email address for
anyone that wishes to try.
smarthub@xxxxxxx
Clare wanted to know how to ad an email address to her contacts. Jackie told
her to double tap on the email address and swipe to create a new contact or
add to existing contacts. When in the mail and it says from @example.com you
double tap here and you get the options about adding it to contacts. This
was tried and it worked.
The meeting ended.
