until challenged to a Kildare - Dublin - Sligo tournament.
Mary recounted her experience of the latest play in the Abbey theatre. The
presentation is aimed at the general public, as normal, but, in addition,
there is a non-visual presentation over closed circuit audio to bring the
full story and all its gory details to the member of the audience with a
visual impairment. Provided with a Bluetooth headset, Mary enjoyed an
excellent performance of 2 intermarried families and the impact of their
cultural differences. Everything was included. Sex, bad language, violence
and very strong accents lending power to the audio experience.

well timed.
On the technical side, Martin and Mary explained that they each carry a
Bluetooth receiver to which the headphones are attached. The narrator is in
the wings giving a blow by blow commentary on the visual aspects that would
otherwise be missed.
Bert is not happy with the new Bluetooth audio handling system in JAWS2022.
He found it particularly difficult when trying to connect to a Zoom meeting.

The basic moves involve the keys: Insert+ space, v and then c to reach the
card selection and choose the desired headset.
This caused endless problems for Bert, who is an expert JAWS user.
Mary declared that she is edgy about updating jaws. Bert assured her that the
update itself is no problem. He often finds that the enter key does not work
on the link in the notification dialog. He advised that users should always
go to the Freedom scientific web site to find the update.
Eamonn sought advice on how to activate the JAWS FUNCTION TO LIST headings.
Insert F6 is the key combination for the list of headings. Insert plus F5
lists the Form Fields and Insert + F7 lists the links.
NVDA, on the other hand, offers a three part dialog after pressing F7 to
access the "Elements list". The user can then cycle between Headings, Links
and Form Fields.
Mary and Bert like Blind Square for navigation around outside spaces. Blind
Square is usually more accurate than Google maps, which quite often declares
buildings or bus stops that are no longer present.
Preferences were debated between "Dublin Bus", "Real Time" and "Next Bus"
Bert drew the attention to the fact that the medical card will no longer be
sent out automatically to registered users. It will now be necessary to apply
for it in person or online at renewal time.
Bob has a need for the tiniest audio reader that he can find. He prefers the
older models of MP3 players that make use of Rock box - the Free Music Player
Firmware which can be seen at: https://www.rockbox.org
Both Martin and Eamonn were able to assure him that the software still works
fine and gives very satisfactory audio quality.
Sadly, the iPhone has Killed off all these excellent mp3 players. Their value
is in the small size with large enough memory to carry talking books
downloaded from the NCBI library or from the public library.
Recent terrible conditions in Ukraine brought the need to donate funds using
Bank accounts into prominence. It was generally agreed that Revolut was the
safest way to make a donation as it does not expose the donor's bank account
to the donation process. Members reported varying times before the funds
transfer was confirmed, varying between immediate and three days before
confirmation was received.
The meeting ended on a busy note but time ran out!
