Thanks, Jackie,
Did your notifications come in when you used the card physically in a shop
rather than for an online purchase? All the best,

In attendance: 9 participants.
Martin reported on the presentation of the work of Patrick Graham
delivered at the online Audio Description tour of the Hugh Lane Gallery on
Zoom.
He enjoyed a full one hour interview that gave him a good insight into
the work of the artist.
Eamonn wondered if Revolut has stopped sending out a text message
which he used to receive for any physical use of the Revolut card. He
has not received any message for some time.
As nobody present uses the revolut card this had to be adjourned for
further investigation and report.
Martin raised the serious question of what a blind person can do if a
premises does not take cards but insist on cash. Involving other
customers who might have cash was not acceptable as a solution.
Martin announced the forthcoming walk in Dundalk, staying at the
carrick dale hotel for a fantastic weekend. Still places available.
The question of when and how headings can and should be used in
documentation came up for discussion. Cearbhall described the WAI
Guidelines of the World Wide Web consortium as the best source of the use of
headings.
The Immersive Reader was introduced to most of us for the first time.
Stuart quickly discovered that it is available in the View menu in Microsoft
Word.
It is a significant reading tool that adjusts font size and colour,
line spacing , line length and removes unnecessary carriage returns to
make visual reading easier. It also carries "Read aloud" witch employs
Microsoft's synthesised voices to read the text for those who cannot
or prefer not to read visually.
Martin reported that he could not get Immersive reader to speak in
English but apparently this can be changed under languages in settings
within Immersive Reader.
Tom finds that Blind Square is not giving him street names any more.
Earlier versions of the app did provide this feature. Cearbhall agreed
and said that he also finds Blind Square reluctant to name streets
preferring to call out buildings and shops.
Microsoft's Soundscape was suggested. Again a visit to Rome recently
revealed that Soundscape was so busy calling out physical buildings
that the information was too much to take in as the user walks along.
Soundscape did, however, report when approaching junctions and
describe and named each road left, right and forward which might well
meet the need that Tom was looking for.
Google maps "Step by Step" was mentioned as another option that might
b useful.
Vera and Annette had issues relating to Apple cloud storage. Annette
found that restoring her iPhone, after installing an IOS upgrade,
brought in a load of old email and phone addresses that had not been
seen for years and had not been in the phone prior to the update. This
needed further investigation but it was suggested that the restoration
of the phone after the IOS installation might have brought in the
entire Cloud backup file. Keeping an eye on the backup material by
going into iCloud on the web would enable checking the contents under the
Apple User name and password.
Vera has and old iPad which contains many photos that she wants to
keep and remove from the iPad before she disposes of it. Questions of
how best to transfer photos from the old iPad to the current one went
unanswered. Vera will investigate and report on her progress.
