Lady W, great notes much better than that young one Jackie, especially as they
were composed riding side saddle.
Well done,
Paul

Lady W has mounted her side saddle to bring you all through the Cork Tech Club.
there was 13 people in attendance.
Joanne was asking what is the number to TopUp using a voucher with vodafone.
the number is 1741, She was having issues topping up using the vodafone app.
Jackie said its easy to go through the banking app as well.
We then praised and slated phone companies so for the purposes of not having a
defamation case put against me this will remain unreported.
Jackie told us all about having the opportunity to try out the Envision Glasses
as part of her work with the Irish Guide Dogs. Jackie is the Assistive
Technology officer on the new Employment Vision Program. When Jackie got them
she firstly needed to pair them with the envision app she had on her iPhone.
This was a fairly easy process much like setting up an Alexa. So once paired
Jackie set to work trying all the features of these glasses. There is a quick
read feature, a scan feature, identifier, this can identify money, colours,
light sources and products and then there is call an Ally.
The feature jackie liked the most was call an ally, she asked her sister to
download the app Envision Ally and sign up, this meant Jackie could call her
sister and then her sister could see through the camera on the glasses.
All in all Jackie wasn't over whelmed with the glasses accept for the call an
ally. As this meant she didn't have to use her phone and her hands were free to
do other stuff.
you can find more information about the envision glasses at this link:
https://www.letsenvision.com/envision-glasses ;
The Echo show is also great for doing video calls to get assistance with stuff
with a friend or family member. The echo show also has the feature of Show and
Tell, which means you ask Alexa what your holding and it should tell you.
Jackie uses this feature with some success.
Martin also told us about Alexa being able to translate English into Irish and
this was tested with great success.
Martin asked about the NCBI smart hub.
This is what NCBI said about it:
Thank you to those who tested and provided feedback while myNCBI Smart Hub was
still in development. We hope you and everyone else can provide more feedback,
We are currently in a “soft launch†phase, which means while it is live it
is still being tested and we are testing this live environment. We would love
your help with testing before we launch the myNCBI Smart Hub officially.
Feedback is imperative to providing a great experience to all users, and we
would like to ask you to test out all the features and let us know what you
think.
If anyone has feedback fill out this form:

Clare was telling us an amazing story about the Starbucks at the Bus Station in
Galway. When she went in the person serving her took her phone and connected
the starbucks app to the Menu so she was able to read everything on the menu,
it also enabled clare to order and if she had her visa card in the wallet she
could have also paid. The service seems to get even better as if you come into
the shop again this alerts the staff that a visually impaired person has
entered the store. We did ask other starbucks fans and they haven't heard of
this. So well done to Starbucks in Galway for this accessible piece of
ingenuity. As they also appear to be able to work with voiceover on, this on
its own requires a gold star.
The new SE3 was discussed so we all wait to hear how this phone compares to the
other SE models.
Jackie was telling us about the Hable1 challenge from sight and sound. The
challenge involves getting a hable1 braille bluetooth keyboard for two weeks,
in these two weeks you have to activally use it and report back. You can get
more information at the below link.

The topic of Electric Scooters came up and we all spoke of near misses but
clare told us of being struck by one in Galway and she was dragged accross the
road. We all hope the government take the advice seriously that they are
getting from IGDB, NCBI and IWA
The meeting ended with the thoughts of ancient rolls.
I'm off to Galway and visit starbucks and try out this excellent service. Roll
on a hot chocolate.
Lady W
