Upgradation from Exhange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 on a DC

Hi All,
I am running Exchange 5.5 on WindowsNT 4.0.
The server, which exchange is running on is the PDC for the domain as well.
Now, I am planning to upgrade to WIndows 2000 Domain and to Exchange 2000.
What I plan is:
1. Upgrade this existing WindowsNT to Windows 2000 server and let it be the
DC only.
2. Get a new server and install Exchange 2000 over the top of it.
Can anyone suggest me which way should go ahead.
