Strange virus like behaviour with Exchange 2000??

I have inherited a customer who had Exchange 5.5 on a server which died.
All they have left is the priv.edb and pub.edb files copied onto another
pc. No log files etc. I do know the Windows domain it was on!
Is it possible to build another server with Exchange 5.5 on it and get
at their data?
