SMTP in Exchange 2003

Hi,
I have migrated exchange 5.5 to exchange 2003. Now I want that exchange 2003
should send mail to external email addresses also.
How do I configure smtp in exchange 2003. Does it any other mailing software
to send mails, just like we were using Mdaemon in exchange 5.5 which gets
mails from exchange.
Please tell me step by step configuration for smtp in exchange 2003, I am
using ISA 2004 for internet connectivity.
Secondly how can I create distribution list in exchange 2003 which are
displayed in exchange global address list to users.
